On Schipol airport there is screens everywhere and they do not bother to update the status of boarding. Instead, they behave like everything is normal you are the person making the problem."

Nadelen: "I've flown Turkish a few times before, and they're generally pretty good for the price. This trip was different. Despite Turkish Airlines policies outlined in their "Customer Rights," I received no notification that the flight was delayed 3 hours, and there was no notification at the JoBurg airport until you go to the counter to check in. JoBurg staff - which are Menzies third-party contractors, not Turkish staff - were disorganized, uncommunicative, and unhelpful. Only one person at the check in desk seemed to have authorization to make any changes, so all other agents were running back and forth to speak with him, and not communicating with passengers. It took over an hour to get clarity on the situation and rebook my connecting flight to Washington for a different flight 8 hours later. The only compensation offered was one meal voucher worth R100 (roughly $7). They would not even look at other Star Alliance flights for early arrival in Washington, and said they were not authorized to consider upgrading my ticket. When I called the Turkish customer service, they essentially said "What do you want us to do about it? You have to submit a formal complaint." Boarding was totally disorganized. In theory there are boarding groups, but after business class and all the high-ranking loyalty members, it's pretty much a mad rush. This seems to be the common practice for Turkish now. In general, Turkish has a great entertainment system on all their long-haul flights, with tons of movies - including very new releases - music, games, etc. They also provide complimentary kits with socks, slippers, eye mask, earplugs and dental kit, even for economy passengers. The meals are fairly good for airlines. However, legroom in economy isn't great. I'm 6'1", and had difficulty getting comfortable with my knees jammed into the back of the seat in front of me. On this particular flight, I was in row 18. The cabin crew were frantic, disorganized, and shouting to each other across passengers. One half of our row was served the meal, and the other half had to wait over 30 minutes to be served for some reason. By that time the vegetarian option was no longer available. Crew also had to run back and forth between service carts because they were frequently out of very common beverages (like sparkling water. And ice.), and on two occasions crew left a drawer from a cart full of trash sitting in the aisle. There were several times that crew ran carts into passengers - including once into my knee that was not in the aisle - and didn't even acknowledge doing so. They also stopped the carts in front of occupied lavatories, temporarily trapping passengers. So not terribly professional. While not specifically on this flight, the experience in Istanbul airport with Turkish Airlines' staff was awful. Zero interest in helping, rude and dismissive, and overall terrible."

I was genuinely uneasy and uncomfortable for the whole trip. I think there should be a designated child with adult area as I really don’t think this is acceptable. It is stressful enough traveling for 30+ hours this really is not welcome."

Nadelen: "We booked our plane reservations through Kayak . My sister booked my reservation along with hers at the same time. Kayak put us on different planes at different times on our return flight back to the USA. I had assumed we were flying together ( sisters with the same last names), so I showed up at the airport to find out that I had missed my first flight. I already had a boarding pass for the next flight, but Kayak had canceled me and booked someone else in my seat. No more seats in economy and I had to pay $1750. Euros for another ticket. Why would 2 passengers flying together and booking together be put on different planes and different times. We will NEVER use Kayak again!7"

Nadelen: "Frankfurt airport is dreadful. I'm elderly and being forced to climb up and down stairs to the Tarmac with luggage and then crammed into a bus to the terminal was terrible. I would avoid Frankfurt at all costs. Lufthansa needs to take some initiative with this."

Voordelen: "Staff were amazingly helpful n friendly. Food was yummy."

Nadelen: "1 person working the service desk. I had a question about our connecting flight from Frankfurt and I was told to call the 1-800 number. When I went to check my bag the woman was very rude and asked me "why do I think I can check two bags?" and questioned my Star Alliance premium silver status, demanding I show her my card (I have no card). My friend was flying with me and she was told that her carry on, mind you had flown to and within europe, was too big for the overhead storage and she had to pay 90 euros to check it and the woman held her boarding pass and wouldn't give it to her. we waited in line at the service desk for over 40 minutes so that she could pay. We arrived to the airport 2.5 hours early to eat and shop for souvenirs. We barely made it in time to get to our gate because of the inefficiencies of Lufthansa. 1 person working a service desk for a large airport is unacceptable, especially when they are 8-10 waiting to scan your baggage and not helping out at all. I had a wonderful flight to Europe on Lufthansa and was absolutely appalled at the attitudes of the airport staff and their lack of customer service."

The entire flight was locked in a room and not allowed to leave with very little explanation as to why. After 5 hours they let us board another plane. There was water and candy supplied as food. It was a joke for anyone with kids or the elderly. Nevermind anyone with health concerns. BAD way to manage a crisis in my opinion. We were treated like cattle. And these were NOT cheap tickets."

Nadelen: "Cold. My chair was bumped because us was just a little bit broader in the gangway than the other chairs. (54c) There is no possebility fot ordering foid for me: diet is without grains at all and without sugar at all."

Nadelen: "Checked online from row 21 to 6. Got a new ticket whilst boarding to 25: last row. Explanation...otherwise the plane was not able to go in the air...absolute bullshit. With my weight and of my fellow members better to let us in the front.. Row 6 was given to a miles & more client..."

Nadelen: "Leg room in economy is inadequate for international flights. Seats had no cushion left in seat bottoms. It was like sitting on cement."

Voordelen: "That was the best airline meal I've ever eaten. It was a lightly curried chicken. Outstanding. Extremely fast boarding. Boarded entire airplane in less than 15 minutes. Nice selection of movies and audio. All of which you could stop, pause, fast forward, and rewind."
Nadelen: "No reading lights. No attendant call button I could find. Not much air volume. That pesky lack of leg room. Short seat belts."

Voordelen: "Crew was beyond standard. Very nice and friendly and always accommodating."
Nadelen: "They ran out of vegetarian meals."

Nadelen: "My ticket didn't specifically say I'm not allowed to have check-in luggage, so I needed to pay extra for that. I also got too little transfer time and barely made it because my flight arrived late. Then, my luggage got lost during the transfer, so I had to wait for 5 hours, which made my plans a mess. Overall not satisfied with my flight"

Voordelen: "Seats comfortable. Decent legroom. Crew pleasant. Food was very good especially for a very short flight."
Nadelen: "I did not know I had purchased economy light ticket. With this you can only carry on 18 pounds and must check and PAY to check any other bag. I looked at my reservation from Vaysms and did not see notice of this. Surprised that one hour trip at this price , well over $200, was in this category. Also trying to buy the option for the bag on phone was difficult. Whole page with options would not show and getting English version was difficult probably because page would not fit on screen."

Voordelen: "Our flight out of Amsterdam was roughly 30 minutes late. Since we were connecting to an International flight to return to the US there was no possibility we would be able to get to the International terminal through security and board our flight in the time available. So, Lufthansa staff met the connecting passengers as we disembarked, shuttled us via bus to the International terminal and ensured we made our connection. Finally, for airline food it was quite good (Vegan)."

Nadelen: "This was NOT a Lufthansa flight. The plane was a United flight. One of the worst I have experienced in 40 years of flying to Europe and Hawaii."

Days before the return flight yet to chicago they had no record of my vegetarian meal The same transfer desk told me there were no morning flights to amsterdam the next day so they booked me 930pm next day, I found hour later a flight on Dad leaving 6am next morning, had to buy own toclet"

Nadelen: "No Entertainment, no snacks included, only tea and coffee"

Voordelen: "Quite a contrast between international and domestic flights. SAS had a blanket, pillow, water bottle, and earbuds on each seat. We were served TWO meals including a full dinner. Flight crew was very polite and responsive."

Voordelen: "Not much to say on a positive note, I want to avoid this airline if I can."
Nadelen: "Three and a half hour flight and all they offer free is coffee and soft drinks! The economy seats are small and the flight attendants are indifferent, until it's time to promote their duty free products. Find an airline with better customer service."

Voordelen: "Went to help desk in Stockholm on arrival to change seats. Earlier flight with better seats at no additional charge was offered and taken. Easy boarding and nice short hop to Oslo."

Nadelen: "I order through Kayak, which took me to priceline...Got my ticket and thought everything was fine...Until I got to the airport, apparently I got a SAS lite ticket and they charged me to check 3 bags 210 Euros...Unreal. I think its pricelines fault because they did not even offer bagage as an option..."

Voordelen: "Late delay and no service from flight staff"

Nadelen: "Planes are old. No conveniences at all - none. Charged for one piece of luggage (my only piece) at the gate. Security process extremely slow. 1.5 hours early to airport and I made it on board by 9 mins. There plane sat for 20 mins on runway before departing."

Nadelen: "We paid $90 per checked bag. When we purchased our tickets we were never given an option to purchase luggage ahead of time, we were under the impression that luggage was included."

Nadelen: "The 70 euro bag check fee"

Nadelen: "Unexpected 70 euro baggage fee that I had no way to add online."

Nadelen: "My 1st experience on SAS & everything was late: takeoff over an hour late, and upon arrival in CPH we were delayed again to exit the plane because they couldn't get the skyway door attached to the plane."

Nadelen: "Bag drop line was over 45 min. Only 2 attendants. Flight was late taking off. Baggage fee was outrageous. Site said 1 free bag, but that is carry on only. Checked bag was €70!!!! The flight was only $85."

Voordelen: "The leg room. The great service and attitude."
Nadelen: "The food... needs to be improved, even if it means charging a fee."

Voordelen: "Nothing."
Nadelen: "Flight was cancelled upon check in without any prior notice. Was forced to wait three hours in line for them to reroute to flight twelve hours later. Staff was rude, unapologetic, demanding and incompetent the entire time. Flight was packed, uncomfortable and smelled terrible. Flight was rough, landing was rough. Terrible airline."

Voordelen: "It was great to have a bottle of water right at the beginning of the flight! Made it easier to settle down and relax."
Nadelen: "It would be great to have a greater offer of music. I really like to listen to some new music from good artists and to get inspired for new music on a long flight. It's too bad, SAS only offers playlists of 1 hour..."

Nadelen: "During online check in and through the website, I was informed that I would be able to have one free checked bag. I was never prompted that I would have to pay additional. However, when I arrived at the airport, I was told that I had to pay an additional $75 to check my bag in even though my boarding pass stated I was able to check in one bag. I was then pushed back and forth through the airport to complete this process. I would have liked to be given warning if I had to pay any additional costs."

Voordelen: "Great flight all went well,"

Nadelen: "cant pre book luggage way too expensive for bags"

Voordelen: "Quick and easy, nice cabin crew. I experienced no difficulties before or during this flight."
Nadelen: "We did not get food in this flight, it was not necessary because it was only a 1h 25m flight, so I cannot rate it."

Nadelen: "After losing the bag they had charged me 60 Euros for, it took them over 24 hours to trace, retrieve and deliver the bag. They made no offer to refund the fee, which any reasonable company would have done."

Nadelen: "Check in took two hours! Gmhad to wait in line to "check" our bag and then wait in another to "pay" for our checked bag and get boarding passes. Very inefficient."

Voordelen: "Quick boarding and unboarding! Made up the time when we left a little late."
Nadelen: "Didn't get a little back of pretzels ;)"

Nadelen: "60euros for the first checked-in bag??? Ridiculous."

Voordelen: "Pilot kept us well informed."
Nadelen: "Even though ground service was servicing the front of the plane, they were unable to service the rear of the aircraft for another hour. Don’t they know that every plane has a front AND a back. When we arrived at RDU, AA did not have someone available for nearly 20 min to get someone to us deplane"

Voordelen: "Easy boarding and flight was 3 and 3 across. Short flight but nice surprise that they still served a full meal and came by twice serving drinks. Would fly again."
Nadelen: "They keep the air temp. somewhat warmer than we are used to in the US in the cabin but we just kept our vents above our head open with a breeze on us so it was ok."

Voordelen: "Friendly crew, minimal English skills, just enough for business. Food was good"
Nadelen: "seats were a bit hard"

Voordelen: "Very friendly crew, nice food"
Nadelen: "Was not given my pre-selected seat. Only reclining seats in business class"

Nadelen: "The boarding was shambles, the seats mediocre and not comfortable neither were the pillows or bedding looking clean. The staff tried but they ran out of items pretty quick. I paid for KLM and got something sub-par"

Voordelen: "The flight was inexpensive and once we were airbirne went by quick"
Nadelen: "we waited an extra hour in the plane, seats not comfy"

Voordelen: "Flight was fine, but was delayed 1.5 hours with no explanation"

Voordelen: "CS gave me seats with screens. My kid enjoyed it much."

Nadelen: "We had to pick up our luggage in Urumqi and take it for rechecking to go on to PEK. Very poor. We were given a sticker to show that we were going to go on which I think was supposed to help us get through passport control faster. No one helped us even though we had stickers. We missed our flight to PEK and had to catch the next one. This caused us to miss our flight to LA. Not very happy. Why can't the luggage be transferred to the next flight instead of having to pick it up and recheck?"

Nadelen: "I was transferred to Guangzhou first without prior notice."

Voordelen: "Built-in entertainment and A380 were great."
Nadelen: "Delay and food."

Voordelen: "Decent space for legs, we had second row, didn't pay extra."
Nadelen: "The service and the manners of staff was horrible. Didn't know how to communicate and just shouted orders at us. Terrible airline. We had to wait for the check in to open because nobody works 1 minute more than they have to."

Voordelen: "Ease of transition in Beijing since staff was there to help facilitate easy transfer to my next flight."

Nadelen: "We could not check on line"

Nadelen: "plane was 7 hours late. no information was given , just constant 1 hour delays"

Voordelen: "Service was standard"
Nadelen: "7 hour delay"

Voordelen: "Flight was delayed for more than five hours..."

Nadelen: "It was very turbulent, and I felt sick the whole flight. The anncoucements made in English were not understandable."

Nadelen: "I was given the incorrect information by the airport staff. Check-in was at a different location than I was informed of. I did not make the flight."

Nadelen: "After a horrific experience getting to GZ, my connection flight to Beijing was almost worse. 45 minutes before landing, I was forced to stow my screen (in the name of safety) which is ridiculous, then after going to restroom, the flight attendant came into the restroom to tell me to go back to my seat, as it is not allowed to leave your seat with 30 minutes remaining in the flight. I have never had a flight attendant force herself into a bathroom and invade someone's privacy. It was beyond rude and inappropriate. The lead flight attendant apologized, but it was well after the incident. I will never ever fly China Southern again."

Voordelen: "Crew was really helpful and considerate. Entertainment selections were immense and diverse!!"
Nadelen: "Seats a bit cramped but I did get Economy so."

Voordelen: "The price was nice and the itinerary didn't seem too painful."
Nadelen: "They refused to board me; were at a different kiosk to board/check in and were unwilling to accomodate. Was not able to access website to check in online. Hard enough traveling in a foreign country."

Voordelen: "Friendly crew, excellent boarding process, on time and punctual. Overall a wonderful flying experience."

Nadelen: "They have very strict rules. You can't even use your cell phone during the flight to play games. Your cell phone must be turned off. Security at the gate before boarding was excessive. You can't even bring in your water bottle or drink even if you purchased drinks after crossing over the main security check point."

Voordelen: "comfortable seat in economy comfort section friendly crew"
Nadelen: "We left late and arrived late and waited a long time to disembark, down the stairs, and into an extremely crowded (standing room only) bus that must have driven us for 10 minutes or more before we reached the terminal. Fortunately I had one of the small number of seats on the bus but I felt very sorry for all the people who had to stand."

Voordelen: "It was the cheapest flight I could find that time. My connection flight delayed because of weather in Urumqi, but they tried to solve and gave me free accommodation for night. Food wasn't that bad."
Nadelen: "Urumqi was bad weather, so we landed in Kashi. Team didn't explain well about it. So there was no explanation. Even I didn't know where I was, what going to happen. They need to improve their English and also should explain to Passengers. Also, not really helpful for connecting flights. They put yellow sticker on our chests but wasn't sure why they did."

Voordelen: "The flight to Amsterdam to China"
Nadelen: "They didn't attend much"

Voordelen: "Crew"
Nadelen: "40 minute boarding delay with little to no info. Then had to wait another 40 minutes for luggage pickup."

Voordelen: "I have flown a lot of Chinese airlines because I live in Beijing, and they are the best! I had a 9-hour layover and expected to sleep in the airport overnight. However, they provided a free hotel! I really appreciated it and they did it without asking. Also they spoke English and were very polite and nice. In my opinion, Chinese airlines are usually terrible and the staff usually has terrible English, but China Southern was amazing!"

Voordelen: "Normally China southern flights are far from being particularly good. But this plane would compete favorably with airlines known for its comfort such as Japan Airlines, and Turkish Airlines."

Voordelen: "The service was very good. The flight was quite late, but the friendliness and service of the staff made up for it."

Nadelen: "The flight to Seoul was delayed."

Voordelen: "The price and the convenient connections."
Nadelen: "Having to re-check my luggage in Beijing (on an ICN-PEK-URC-ALA same-day itinerary)."

Voordelen: "Good service"

Voordelen: "Nice prompt flight with good service."

Nadelen: "Flight staff essentially refused to answer questions, particularly in english, aboutique how long we might be delayed, whether there would be another flight, where we should wait or go for more information. I and other passengers were ignited multiple times and even had conversations abruptly ended when the staff turned away after 2 or 3 questions to which we received incomplete and evasive responses."

Voordelen: "The crew was attentive and courteous"
Nadelen: "We boarded late and were never told why"

Voordelen: "Very efficient check in process."
Nadelen: "Food service - half a sandwich and a kids juice box. No coffee available. Good thing I caffeinated up in the airport. I think they can do better."

Voordelen: "Staff efficient"
Nadelen: "Abit slow at check in with queues"

Nadelen: "There was an extremely long delay, nearly seven hours. We sat on the plane without any notifications about our status for two hours. All annoucements were in Chinese and Korean, but barley any English. When other passengers and I tried to engage flight attendants and gate personnel in English about what the airline was planning, even simple questions like where we should wait and if there was likely to be another plane on the same day, staff routinely ingored us and even walked away while we were asking for assistance. Our compensation was 100cny."

Nadelen: "They had the worst service from start to finish."

Voordelen: "Kind crew, served meal and drinks, showed recent film on plane."
Nadelen: "Plane was old"

Nadelen: "Ridiculous weight restrictions on baggage (all I had was a backpack but the restriction is for 11 pounds only...even though it fits under the seat. When the drink cart came, I requested water and was told they had none! Phones may not be used at all, even in airplane mode. Not only are you deprived of any in-flight entertainment, but you can't even use your own phone to listen to music."

Voordelen: "The staff was very friendly and the flights were on time and boarded appropriately. The seats were comfortable enough and the food was very good."
Nadelen: "I did not like that we did not our own personal tv with a selection of movies and games. I did not like that only one show/movie was playing and just a few small tv's around the airplane to watch. I also was very unimpressed from China's law that I could not read my books on my phone while in the plane. I was not aware of this law before the flight, but it is a stupid one. There is no evidence of plane crashes from people reading books on their phone while in the air. Not being able to read during my flight, made it a very long, very boring flight."

Voordelen: "China Southern's economy seats are spacious for legroom and seat width and the entertainment system is well stocked with movies/TV shows/music. Some entertainment systems will also com with a USB port to charge your device (if it's allowed to be used). All seats come with pillow and blanket to keep you warm throughout the flight."
Nadelen: "Any mobile devices that can be used as a cell phone are not allowed to be on or used while on board the flight. This includes mobile phones in flight mode (China Southern explained to me that this is Chinese law), so don't expect to do anything with your mobile phone which means you're basically using their entertainment system. They will stop and tell you midflight to turn off your phone. Food was horrible, no soap in the bathrooms, and boarding/deboarding in Guangzhou was a test of patience. Having been through Guangzhou twice, despite there being multiple gates for planes to pull into for arrival, they'll always deplane you to the tarmac where buses will be waiting. They'll then drive you to an arrival's terminal where you're forced through a long line that leads to a China Southern desk for them to stamp your boarding pass to wait for your next flight. This line was 30 minutes long for our plane alone and increased as more arrived. Boarding was the same where you get on a bus, stand for 10-15 minutes while they drive you to a plane that was for whatever reason was attached to another gate that no one had access to and you've climbing stairs to board again. The airport itself is devoid of many food or coffee shops and what's available is expensive and of low quality/taste. Expect to see endless construction, many unclean bathrooms where the toilet seats don't even fit the toilet they've been attached to, and lack of soap in the bathrooms."
