Everything went wrong

It was far too cold. Had to wear my coat and use the blanket. Very unpleasant.

Comfortable flight. Lots of space.

Clean and comfortable short flight. Arrived on time.

Delays, grumpy service staff

The new business class configuration isn't the best. Knees keep bumping. The seat area wasn't the cleanest either. There was an orange peel on the floor. Meal - mediocre.

Had a brillant flight from LAX and the lady that check us in at LAX on the vs6848 flight to Manchester was outstanding ! And deserves recognition! She was patient with when we were paniced about us been late and havibg five chikdren under five...she kept us clam... reassured us and booked our bags..ensure my elderly mother had assistance and also waited for my husband who had gone to the toilet and jad got himself lost in the airport. We made it to the plan on time... please fjnd that lady as I really want her to be recognized The plane was of high standard and we got the seats thats worked well with our large family My email is lubanzu.ssbs@yahoo.co.uk if you need more information.

Nadelen: "Virgin website is slow and not intuitive. Couldn't get seat assignment until i was at the gate. No explanation why. Boarding announcements delivered via ESP. Half of the passengers were still in the boarding area because no one heard announcements. Arrived 30 min early but had to wait on the tarmac for 45 min for a parking gate. Baggage delivery at JFK took forever."

Somehow we wound up with seats right next to the bathroom door, which would have been a pretty uncomfortable situation for a variety of reasons, but the flight wasn't full, and she helped us find a suitable place to sit. Also, my wife and I usually take our tea with honey vs. milk and sugar. Even though honey is usually one of the options for tea, she found a way to accommodate our request. The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."
Nadelen: "Only thing I didn't like about this flight was the boarding area. Once you get into that the area, you don't really have access to appetizing food (only vending machines) or even restrooms. That's one thing that could be improved."

Nadelen: "I paid extra for Economy Delight seats for me and my wife. Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

Nadelen: "I booked together with my wife, yet we were allocated seats apart and were not able to be reassigned together. The leg room was so tight that I could not pick up things off the floor without putting my head in the next persons lap. Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."
Voordelen: "Everything went very fast and smooth. I didn't have to queue for the boarding. The Sita were very comfortable, the crew very friendly and halepful and the selection of the movies A+."
Voordelen: "Choice of movies was good, but told the flight over was better. I flew another airline. Had no issue checking one bag in for free, but I think that is standard on an international flight."
Nadelen: "Entertainment systems take up foot/bag space underneath the seats. Was not able to get more than one glass of wine, even though I missed the first beverage service, that is my fault though, but I don't recall it being an issue getting a drink between services. Entertainment systems had contrast issues and it seemed like a lot of people 8 - 10 had issues since they were using iPads instead of the built in monitors. A lot of wear showing on the entertainment systems remotes."
Voordelen: "The speed of boarding, then the frequency of service. Cabin crew were very dedicated. All in all, a very smooth flight. Ps. my first Virgin was called Carole. ;)"
Nadelen: "The food left a lot to be desired, but apart from my flight on Emirates to Auckland, Airoplne food does tend to be somewhat......mmmm not sure what the word is, but room for improvement describes it."

Nadelen: "The seats gets smaller each year. For a seven hour flight, the seats are very uncomfortable, no space to move. The flight with the hand held remote control TV had poor visual quality. It was hard to watch movies with dark background."

Nadelen: "This VS25 flight, whatever airplane it was felt old and the v poorly designed "seat back pocket" sat so low and protruded out so much that it pushed against your knees. V uncomfortable."

Lufthansa is always late... better on our way back to Munich & Amsterdam. Outbound was a painful experience. Will consider to use them in the future.

Voordelen: "Easily the most comfortable I've ever been in TATL economy. Lufthansa's 747-8 is set up strangely: the main deck is arranged First - Business - Economy - Prem. Economy - Economy. This means that if you can book a seat in the forward economy mini-cabin, you get dedicated cabin crew, no other passengers walking through your space to get to the bathroom, plenty of bin space, and – best of all – a lot of aisle space to stretch your legs. Row 16 aisle seats are especially good, as the bulkhead between J and Y doesn't extend all the way, and therefore you can stretch your feet out. Food was actually excellent (for economy), hot and flavorful and generous, with snacks available mid-flight. Beverages also tops – gotta love Lufthansa for offering Campari (!) and more than one wine choice."
Nadelen: "Entertainment (music and movies at least) was up-to-date but not very interested. Boarding and transit security in Frankfurt was anxiety-inducing – between getting to the US departures area and additional screening, it took more than an hour from deplaning to getting in line. Boarding w/o group numbers was an exercise in patience. And the terminal wifi is so spotty!"
Voordelen: "Excellent service and comfortable flight for a great price! The US carriers cannot compete with Lufthansa or any European airlines as a matter of fact."
Nadelen: "Touchscreen of the entertainment system was not very sensitive and had false readings. Annoying but not critical."

Voordelen: "I was able to squeeze back into Comfort Economy and make my destination, after a messed up miles upgrade - have to be grateful for the small things, right?"
Nadelen: "I was actually upgraded to Business Class through a LH miles award, however, that upgrade was not honored, despite the fact that I had a confirmation email from them. I had to first get to Frankfurt to even negotiate this problem. At the departure point, LH was unable to furnish me a boarding pass to my NY flight. After racing though the huge airport at max speed to make this connection, I was treated rudely at the gate in Frankfurt by LH short tempered ground staff, to the point of even being accused of being the source of the problem and being late for boarding (when I was only accorded an hour connection through this booking, and raised this concern with LH prior). Lastly, the ground crew took away my connecting flight boarding pass and nearly forgot to give me back my luggage tag. The flight crew was Ok, but just did a bare minimum to keep up with the packed and overbooked flight. To top of the joy, I got food poisoning after landing in NYC - not all food they serve was in sealed containers, and it must have been enough to cause a day of misery that followed my arrival - I can assure you that the late time and taxing and docking delays in NYC took away any opportunity to have a normal dinner, and LH food was all I had all day... Not the usual LH experience, but I may give them a break for the next few trips."

Nadelen: "The plane left without us and we were still in the air. They shut down the airport in Frankfurt so we couldn't take off at our destination and when they allowed us to fly into Frankfurt, Lufthansa didn't wait and hundreds of people were stranded from different areas because of the closed airport to all flights. We waited 5 hours to rebook a destination back to the USA and traveling lasted 24hours. Right now I'm not sure if I'll be refunded my tickets for thedomestic airline flight. WE will NEVER want to fly out of Frankfurt and especially with Lufthansa. I have to say the people at the service counters were very nice and helpful but it took 5 hours to get serviced and were missed 2 possible connecting flights. Lufthansa was a good airline but that was 20 years ago. The airport is too big now has too many delays so I'll avoid it at all cost."

Voordelen: "With almost airlines charging much more while delivering much less, it was a pleasure to take this flight and actually be treated like a consumer who paid a lot of money to fly. They fed us, gave us drinks, and were generally very nice and accommodating."

Voordelen: "Considering BA cancelled our flight to Milan because our Delta flight to JFK was late....we had to buy 2 more round trip tickets. No one from Kayak or BA helped us.. we were out anithet $1100. ..worst experience ever will never use Kayak again. The right thing to do is for Kayak to refund our original.tickets....since we had no control over our delayed flight but I am sure that will not happen."

Only to get to the counter and waste more tome trying to find me in the system to then tell me my flight is with American Airline . I double check my email where it clearly shows: 1st flight-British Airway and 2nd flight-American Airline . This is not acceptable, nobody wants to take responsability for sending me the wrong information in the email. Had I know both of my flights were with American Airline I wouldn’t lost my plane because I would make the right line to begin with ."

Nadelen: "They closed the counter too early , missed flight Did mot accommodate although I was there 50 minites prior to the flight"
Voordelen: "Flight departed and arrived on time. Good, friendly, efficient service on flight. Cabin crew took special care to arrange for those with on-going flights and tight connections to be accommodated to make these tight connections."
Nadelen: "Tight seating and aisles."
Voordelen: "I paid extra for the bulkhead seats for the leg room, and it was worth it. In general, it was an easy flight."
Nadelen: "Free seats in economy class are way too squeezed for a 10 hours flight."
Voordelen: "At least they kept throwing food at us on the plane."
Nadelen: "Arrived 3 hours early to CDG, and a long line to check a bag. It took so long, eventually they allowed people to cut in line as their flight departure times neared. 2+ hours later, I finally got to a kiosk to print my boarding pass and baggage tag, but now another line to drop off my bag on the conveyor belt. With less than 30 minutes to departure, and still haven't gone through security, I gave up and made my checked bag a carry-on as well. And then tight seats on the plane, with no individual screens (the movie played on a tiny screen 2 rows up in the aisle.)"
Nadelen: "We boarded, sat on the plane for a while, backed up from the gate, then sat for a while longer. 3 hours later, we had to go back to the gate because we reached the legal limit they can hold us on the plane on the tarmac. Another hour and a half or so later, we finally took off for JFK. We missed our first connecting flight and the second connecting flight I was able to rebook."
Nadelen: "The flight, listed as a Finnair flight, was operated by American Airlinea. The small domestic plane was cramped and uncomfortable for a cross Atlantic over night flight. The expectation was a European transatlantic airliner. Make sure you check the plane model before you book."

Nadelen: "Cannot believe how American a treated it's passengers. 3 hour delay to JFK. No apologies. Missed connection to Paris. Not any customer service agents to be found in JFK at 11:30 pm. No explanation on what next. No hotel.. Nada. I'll never travel with American again."
Voordelen: "More leg room than expected, food was airline food, but not that bad considering. Plenty of beverages, great selection of movies. Hour delay leaving, but arrived only half an hour late."
Voordelen: "Ice cream as a snack was a nice surprise."
Nadelen: "This was a nine hour flight and the entertainment system was very old. There were screens in the middle of the plane with the movies chosen for you. On a flight this long, the customer should have options. You also were not able to control your the air. So the flight was freezing! The lunch options were meatballs or cheesy pasta. I thought these were risky. What has happened to chicken?"

Nadelen: "They would not let me board for being less than 5 minutes late."
Nadelen: "I didn't like the fact that I paid for 2 seats with extra legroom to find out that the entire plane was extra legroom. The flight attendants weren't friendly at all. I have had nothing but trouble with American for this past trip. From losing my reservation to this, it has been a nightmare. I hope I never have to fly them again, I tried complaining to customer service. You can't call them ; only email them. I could go on and on. They need lessons with their treatment of their passengers."

Nadelen: "Airport staff, tight seats and boarding process."
Voordelen: "Starting with seat selection with an agent, every step of the trip was handled with efficiency and professionalism. The cabin crew saw to my needs and was watchful of each passenger. Communication was provided as needed, food, drink, snacks as well as comfort dispensed smoothly."
Nadelen: "The delay with our flight leaving Rome was tied to a delay at JFK the evening before, so although there was nothing to be done at the Rome end, it was inconvenient. Also, because we needed to make a connection in New York, this set the stage for delays on the last leg of our journey"
Voordelen: "The British Airways flight to Europe had on-demand movies, with a screen on the back of the seat in front of you. The American Airlines return flight only had a cabin screen, where everyone watched the same movie. I will say, however, that the two movies I watched were excellent, so the outcome was fine (but given the option, I'd take the BA option of on-demand viewing!)."
Nadelen: "The seats on the AA weren't quite as comfortable as the BA flight (seats sat pretty straight upright, and not too plush... but all in all, not terribly uncomfortable)."

Nadelen: "We missed our connection and british had booked us automatically on the next available flight which was helpful. However--- we paid to pick our seats and we got stuck in both middle seats. I also got skipped on the first round of beverage service. The entire crew was congregated in the middle part and when they finally made their way back to the cabin for trash I asked the flight attendant if I could please get a beverage as I was skipped. He said yes let me gather this trash and ill be back. He never returned. Then everyone was served their meals and I then was also skipped. Flight crew congregated again in the middle and my sister and I had to wave our hands up in the air to grab anyone's attention so I could get my meal. At that point they were out of the vegetarian option and I got a small oh we didn't mean to skip you comment. Pretty disappointed with this flight."

Nadelen: "After hours at the gate, the flight was finally deemed cancelled. I missed my layover and was forced to stay over night at a airport hotel. I had paid a change fee to come home specifically for that day which I lost, not to mention 9 hours in the airport... the flights for the following day were totally downgraded from my original booking. Was so upset I could have cried...."

Nadelen: "Because of technical difficulties, we had to get off the plane after having boarded so it left with 1h30 delay. That can happen to everyone though but that's not it. On the plane, after having paid for specific seats, the entertainment system did not work as well as the individual lights despite the crew knowing about it. When we notified them, all they said was "Oh! Someone should've told you. Sorry." The one in charge of the crew offered us champagne but never came back with it. So with my girlfriend, we spent 8 hours from London to NYC in darkness with no entertainment despite having paid for it. Finally, I've been trying to get in touch with customer service for 3 weeks now and I still haven't gotten a hold of anyone."

Nadelen: "American Airlines always use those old Boeings for flights between Paris and the US. They look so old inside. No modern entertainment. They still have those small screens on the ceiling. No individual entertainment stations. And seats are not comfortable."

Nadelen: "We lost our in-flight entertainment just a couple hours into the flight... the staff did all they could to try to fix it to no avail, and collected blue cards from all passengers affected. They were very nice. There was nothing they could do."
Voordelen: "I can't believe how close the seats are. The lady behind me got mad at me for wiggling in my seat. My butt was sore as the seat is so small and the guy next to me had his arm on the console all the time so I had to lean left the whole trip. I couldn't charge my phone for 8 hours of the flight so when I got to JFK my phone was dead. It doesn't heart to put power plugs in every row. This is the 21st century and this is British airways representing great Britain. I guess gb isn't great no more. One more thing I don't eat pork and when the flight attendant offered me dinner she said I only have sausage. Be considerate on passengers that don't eat pork"

Nadelen: "The passenger in front of me reclined so far, he was basically on my lap. It made it difficult to see the screen and eat dinner, which was subpar. The person behind me kept poking me in the back. I couldn't figure out how or why. I could've used more arm rest as both people on either side of me took the arm rest. So basically I was surrounded on all sides by inconsiderate people, who were probably as cramped as I was."

Nadelen: "I bought a return ticket for my daughter to fly to Amsterdam for the summer. I was allowed to purchase this flight from Kayak and BA from ATL to LON to AMS. Departure was for the end of May to the end of August. When we were checking in the attendant told us that the ticket was no good and we had to purchase another ticket because the travel was over 90 days. At no time did BA or Kayak let us know this information but had no problem selling us this ticket. We were literally extorted for another $1000.00 so she could depart. Shameful! Will not be using your site or BA ever again."

Nadelen: "We had a quick trip planned to the go to London traveling from Amsterdam with British Airways. We were able to check in without a problem, but getting through airport security took a substantial amount of time, which caused sever delays getting to the gate. Once at the gate, we were told that we could no longer board the plane as the gate had already closed. Even more shocking, the service people told use that our entire itinerary (AKA our return flight) was cancelled as a result of this. You can imagine our frustration as we had tickets in hand looking at the door to the plane that we would have been allowed to walk through had security taken 5 minutes less. In the states, if airport security is holding you from missing your flight, this is communicated with the airline and proper arrangements are made. Unfortunately, this was not the case, forcing us to buy a new (last minute) ticket and losing a lot of money."

The seats that were so tight I couldn't get up to use the lavatory when the inconsiderate woman in front of me put her seat back (and I'm totally average size). The awful entertainment selection. The worn, dirty plane."
Voordelen: "Both of my flights had no person in the middle seat, so I was able to spread out more in the space which made it much easier to get some sleep, especially on my red eye flight!"

Nadelen: "The seats are so close together the seats are actually painful. I'm 6 ft tall and my boyfriend is 6 3". A very short lady in front of us leaned all the way back and caused such major discomfort my boyfriend had to push her forward. She then complained even tho she visibly had a lot of space. We requested an upgrade from gate crew and flight crew upon boarding but were told the flight was full even though multiple seats were available. Will not fly British Airways again."

TAP insisted they could not book me on as Azores Airlines from Pinta Delgado to Toronto was not booked for me. I had to call bothe airlines. With no help from the desk. I finally got both to confirm and at the last minute was allowed on the flight. I chose this route to have a nice couple of days in Portugal and I will have. But the flight start was really upsetting."

Instead, they rebooked us on the next day's flight a full 24 hours after, refusing to rebook us on earlier flights on other carriers. Their customer service was as bad as I've ever experienced. Multiple agents admitted their company is terrible and doesn't care about its customers. The indifference to our situation was surreal. Lesson learned."
Nadelen: "We were never prompted to pay for our check in baggage at the time of purchase and so when we showed up we were forced to pay 85 euros for one checked bag for an international flight on top of a ticket that already cost more than $250. The luggage restrictions were never shown previously. Will never fly TAP Portugal again."

You can't have that in an enclosed space. In this day and age of so many people having food allergies to nuts, why would you serve a dessert with almonds?? My daughter almost ate it because there was no warning label. It scares me to think what might have happened at 12,000 feet."

Nadelen: "I purposely got a seat in the front row for extra leg room next to my two friends whose tickets I paid for. The TV in my seat was broken and I therefore could not at all watch TV unless I moved to another seat. I ended up not being able to sit with my friends for the entire seven-hour flight. The flight was delayed multiple times. The first time it was delayed because they were doing an extra security search by hand in the Gated area awaiting to board the plane. I have never seen this in my life and it was definitely started. Then we were on board the plane for almost an hour before they made an announcement that they found a broken part on the plane and had to switch planes. It was all very fishy. Quite frankly that I want my money back."

Nadelen: "Lobster appetizer was dry, hard, and tough. Steak dinner was prepared nicely, but of medium- low quality meat. Announcements are not heard in headphones, which in emergency situations could be dangerous. Noise reducing headphones supplier are effective in the noise reduction function, but not high quality audio resolution, with some dialogue intelligible. Business class seat wasn't a full recline as are those of most competitors, but it was comfortable. I didn't see any snack offerings that most other airlines have available between meals."

Nadelen: "Upgrade the entertainment system."
Voordelen: "Big space between seats. Best screen entertainment."
Nadelen: "Food was only average. Especially fish."
Nadelen: "Being sat in a middle seat. With that being said, it was OK. No problems."
