Good car with awesome MPG.

Voordelen: - Offered an option for an automatic for the same price as reserved manual car, made wife happy about that. - Was offered a hybrid, which was even better considering gas prices in Europe - Fast service

Nadelen: - Office location was a bit off from map. - Walked further down the street, with vague directions, on where the garage is to physically pick-up the vehicle - Garage didn't have English-speaking people, so it was a lot of sign language

Voordelen: That i was able to come home

Nadelen: The lie of insurance, breakdown cover, exess waiver, snowchains, taxes i can go on and on!! I doubt il be using avis Italy again, it cost me 4 times the car rental in total leaving me with little spending money for my 3 day trip. Horrible experience ruined my trip. Il stick to puplic transport

Nadelen: In the dark garage with narrow parking space I found 3 damages (the staff marked 2 into the form saying that the one is regular scratches not considered / reported as damage). 0 damages were indicated in the form from hertz. Car wasn’t dirty, but covered by dust (even inside all over the instrument panel). Trip went well but during drop-off at Bologna an arogant staff reported a scratched plastic wheel cover - I didn’t even park close to the pavement so I couldn’t scratch it.. but I was unable to see this damage during car pick-up becuase of above reasons and there is also huge difference of judging the vehicle condition between the locations. So what is not a problem in Florence seems to be a problem in Bologna. Didn’t agree with my tesponsibility and awaiting contact back to find a solution. Bad experience

Pickup was poor, but drop off was great.

Voordelen: Car was in good shape. The gentleman at drop off was friendly and efficient.

Nadelen: Pickup. The agent lied about having to take insurance coverage even at one point turning her computer screen to show when she entered no for coverage it reverted to yes. I unfortunately did not have more time to deal with the issue and ended up paying the extra fees. I'm guessing they get some commission on selling the insurance and Hertz approves of the practice. This will make a good class action lawsuit someday.

Voordelen: Good pickup, clean car, as expected until...

Nadelen: They charged is EUR 50 extra when we returned the car...apparently the guy at the drop off found a bit of dirt on the back seats...which probably came from our 6 and 4 year olds putting their shoes on the seat when climbing into the car. This was a real surprise to us, and too late for us to pass a quick hover on the seat. What a shame that they don't tell you in advance....will not go back to Hertz, never had this issue with Avis or Europcar!

Voordelen: The drop off process was quick. However this is because the car was so old and destroyed they didn’t really care to check.

Nadelen: We arrived half hour late as plane was late, so they charged us extra 40 euros, which completely destroyed the value we thought we had. The car was very old, with 80,000 Km, smelly and full of scratches and bumps. The breaks were in poor conditions and the back lights weren’t working properly we realised.

Voordelen: Car was new, no problems with the car. Service was helpful.

Nadelen: Hard to find the booth for dollar. There was not a booth for dollar. Had to find out that dollar uses thrifty booth. And hertz, thrifty and dollar are the same company. Nadelen: Pick up at the Bologna airport was brutal. We were the third in line, and it took us 90 minutes. Then walk outside for 200-300 yards to a confusing car lot situation. Didn’t have the car I reserved

Nadelen: Didn’t have the car I reserved so instead of the $800 bill it was $3000 for an unknowing upgrade

Nadelen: I booked a 9 seater van. The lady at the counter refused to acknowledge the booking. She said that she don't know Kayak or CarRentals.com. She said that there is no car available as the booking was not done directly with Budget.com. It took me almost 40 minutes of negotiation and after that she gave me a 7 seater van, which I took it on no choice basis. This is the first time that such horrible experience has happened. I sincerely hope that Kayak will take up the matter with Budget and they can train the staff at their Bergamo (Italy) airport counter. I expect a compensation for the discomfort due to this attitude of the staff at the counter or some discount as I was given a smaller van.

Voordelen: The car was decent to drive around.

Nadelen: I was shown a rate in dollars, but when I received the final bill it was in Euros which increased the price by fifty dollars. When I booked the car through kayak, it was only supposed to be like $24 per day, but in the end cost me nearly $95 per day.

very efficient car rental

Voordelen: the car was clean and only had 8,000 miles on it. we asked for an intermediate car and received a Mercedes-Benz a160 which was a nice driving car. We had 4 passengers and the trunk space was a little small for luggage but we were able to manage as we only had 4 carryon bags and 4 backpacks. All in all it worked out well during our 30 day travel in Italy.

Nadelen: the trunk was too small for 4 people's bags.

rip off extra costings v those advertised

Nadelen: pricing was far far higher than advertised when taxes and mandatory extras were added in... this should be made clear up front, its false advertising to show a price that is in effect almost 1/2 the actual cost....

Voordelen: Cheap car

Nadelen: Beware! Car had scraps on all four corners when I picked it up. Thankfully I had photographed it before taking it! When I returned it the inspector tried to blame me for some off them! ALWAYS TAKE PICTURES BEFORE YOU USE THE RENTAL!!

Voordelen: Well..we did get a car.

Nadelen: Pick up at the Bologna airport was brutal. We were the third in line, and it took us 90 minutes. Then walk outside for 200-300 yards to a confusing car lot situation. Wandered inside the fenced area for 10 minutes before we stumbled on the Budget office. Then it took another 20 minutes ....
