Voordelen: The car was clean and well maintained.
Nadelen: The pick up and drop off experience could have been better. The staff was not very knowledgable regarding local laws even though they get tourists all the time.
The rental was supposed to cost 240$ but they placed a hold of 1000$. Not sure if they are gonna remove that, or I'd have to talk to customer care to get that removed.
Drop off was exceedingly painful with no clear instructions.

Voordelen: THe person at the counter did a wonderful job matching up 5 Americans with the largest vehicle available. We got a wonderful Peugot 508 Sport wagon. Great car.

Nadelen: We were asked if we wanted an automatic with GPS vs a manual and declined. They gave us an automatic with GPS (that we didn't know how to use) anyway and ended up with an optional services charge at the end that almost doubled the cost.

Lied to about rate.
Nadelen: Had a 6 day rental. Returned the car one day early before 3 pm and expected one day less in rate and lady who checked me out made up some story about a 5 day rental could be a different rate than a 6 day. Confusing because when I picked up car nothing was said to me and actually was told it would be one day cheaper. Lame to be lied to then overcharged

The situation is still not resolved, I have spent 6 or more hours on the phone with only getting told "that I need to talk to a different Hertz office.
Terrible RIP OFF in Spain Bilbao

Nadelen: I booked a car for 6 passengers only to be told its not big enough for our luggage.I was given a bigger car that I had to pay for. Then I was told that the car I purchased didn't include any Insurance at all and that I was liable up to 25000 Euro. in all I had to pay approx. another $450 Euro for the car. I wont waste my time on the holiday complaining and reporting this abuse of vulnerable travellers(when they don't have another choice and cancellation is not allowed) but when I get back to Sydney I will be making formal complaints

The guy at the drop off location didnt check in the car for four hours which resulted in an extra days charge. I wouldnt rent from Hertz again if they were the only company and I was left to hitchhike the entire distance.

Nadelen: The drop off point had restricted hours. However that wasn’t listed anywhere when we rented it. Definitely should list that for people so that they aren’t caught unaware.

Voordelen: The car was fantastic. We requested a compact and were given an Imola Yellow Jeep Renegade, which was perfect for the kind of driving we were doing in Spain.
Nadelen: Dollar is run by Hertz in Spain, and this was a bit confusing. Pickup in Bilbao would have been fine, except that the car was slightly damaged in at least 6 locations - but only four were noted by Hertz. I found two more, immediately - only one of which was noted by the Hertz agent. The other he said, was an "insignificant" scratch, and refused to note it.
Great car, terrible drop-off
Voordelen: The drive to the airport was quick, and uneventful.
Nadelen: It turns out that the 1-inch scratch that I pointed out at pick-up, but was noted by the Hertz agent, wasn't "insignificant" to the Hertz agent in Asturias Airport at drop-off. He claimed that he had to report it as well at two, invisible (or imaginary) windshield pock marks on the driver's side. If they were there at all, they (1) didn't occur while I was renting the car; (2) were so insignificant they were not worth reporting. (Windshield repair, if required, could be done by a $5 kit from a parts shop in about 3 minutes). If they were there at all, neither mark resulted in an "x", neither went all the way through the window, both were so superficial that I hadn't noticed them during the week I had the car (and I used it a lot, every day). The dishonest agent claiming to be "just doing his job" at the drop-off ABSOLUTELY RUINED what otherwise would have been a great experience.

Easy company to deal with
Voordelen: Friendly staff and the car was spotless. I didn’t t get the car I booked but the car I was given was good. Unfortunately I bumped the car and damaged a door so I had to pay €615 however it was my fault. I paid for excess insurance separate so I was covered for the €615.
Nadelen: I would’ve preferred the seat Ibiza but the micra was a good replacement. Sat Nav should be provided as standard as the car has the functionality but the SD card has been removed and you need to pay more for it
Voordelen: Auto was prima, alleen motor niet zo sterk bergop.
Nadelen: Bizar dat er 35 euro bij kwam en dat alle betalingen op 1 creditcard moesten. Hierdoor kon borg niet en moest ik verplicht verzekering van 90 euro nemen die ik niet hoefde. Sowieso triest om dit soort kosten niet vooraf duidelijk te communiceren, want uiteindelijk was deze aanbieder net zo duur of zelfs duurder dan de rest.
