    Set up for disappointment...

    - The fact that our Villa was only 20+ yards from the beach - a la carte options were alright (3-stars) -

    - The staff was not that helpful nor welcoming. We understand "island time" but staff did not seem willing to help on anything from booking reservations for the restaurants, to discussing excursions. Only people who wanted to really chat were the ones trying to "sell" you on their private club membership. - Buffet options were horrible (1-star) - We booked 'Esmerelda" when it was Adults-only, specifically because of that reason, however when we arrived we were notified it was family-friendly as of May 2017. No notification was sent prior otherwise we would have rebooked. The previous reviews from travelers is what got us excited to book and stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe - Esmerelda however after a week at the resort, it left a lot to be desired.

    What a pleasant surprise

    Immaculate resort that caters to its customers needs. Excellent food, excellent service, and very friendly staff. All other hotel operators should get a lesson from Bahia as to how to run a hotel. I will definitely recommend it.

    I will definitely return

    Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was not luxurious but extremely pleasant and tasteful as well as quite roomy. The food was great. I booked two restaurants but ended up eating my meals at the buffets which had spectacular selection, presentation and taste. The beach is gorgeous- couldn't get enough!

    The Staff at the front desk was not very helpful and sometimes, depending on who you spoke to, not very patient. I was a first time guest, not familiar with their protocol but they acted as if i should know what to do and where to go. I would have enjoyed much more "island music" as far as the entertainment. Not that much to do at night in my location, which was Esmeralda. I walked to other areas but did not find much else. either. I would have loved more opportunity to dance to some live music.
