Baiyun City Hotel

The location; it is around the corner from the Airport Express and the bus terminal (approximately a minutes walk), and 5 minutes from Guangzhou railway and metro stations - opposite the hotel. It is also a 30 second walk away from a 24 hour supermarket. Mr Lu's customer service skills were excellent and he was extremely helpful - thank you. The House-Keeping team were very friendly. I was told that there were no English speaking TV channels, however, I found a news channel on 115.

The hotel does not look like the picture provided on the website - it is very old and looks rundown. It is opposite the railway and metro stations which is undergoing extensive construction - work commences at 6.30am which can be heard from the room and ceases at 9.00pm. I sampled both the Chinese and western breakfast, however, this was spoiled by drinking the watered down juice on the second day, which led to excessive illness for 2 days. The room was not cleaned during my stay - only the bath towels were changed. This was totally unacceptable, especially as it was not thoroughly cleaned from the last guests departure. I stayed in 3 different types (and priced rooms), however, only the cheapest priced room had a fridge. There are a variety of eateries next to and near the hotel; all but 2 serve fast food.
