Maria the receptionist was really nice and helpful suggesting eateries and sightseeing options. I was so pleased that I stayed a second night. Would recommend highly.

Voordelen:: The location is awesome, you´re 5 minutes far walking from the center. The staff is really friendly and helped us a lot with recommendations where to have dinner and where to find a supermarket. The place is cozy and should be really good for young couples, singles or friends.
Nadelen:: For a family with baby I wouldn´t recommend, you just have to climb up the stairs to get to the rooms, with all the stuff you might be travelling with. In the little reception you can find at the entrance they´ve placed a pot to make yourself some tea or coffee, but I´d say that it´s more good will rather than really helpful :-)

Voordelen:: The historic building has been beautifully converted into a hotel with modern conveniences but old-world charm. Our room was large and well-appointed, with a view to the patio / grounds filled with bougainvilla and citrus trees. The location is excellent - everything in the center is within short walking distance.
Nadelen:: At breakfast, the coffee (from a machine) was not very good, and it would have been nice to have fresh-squeezed orange juice. But overall, there is little to complain about.

Nadelen:: Het ontbijt. De koffie was niet llekker en niet warm genoeg, er was geen vers sinaasappelsap en het fruit was uit blik. Kortom, de kwaliteit van het ontbijt stond niet in verhouding tot de grandeur van het hotel zelf.

Nadelen:: Staff indifferent, WIFI not working, min. 3.000 Watt floodlight in front of the room windows on all night, min. 3mio little birds chirping in trees from dawn till dusk, staff smoking right underneath the windows of the rooms. Breakfast consists of tinned fruits, cornflakes, horrible coffee and stale eggs. Worst of 2 weeks in Portugal! Urgently needs new management!

Voordelen:: After a road trip through the Iberian peninsular, the Dom Luis certainly didn’t disappoint us and, in fact, was our favourite of all the hotels that we stayed at. Upon arrival, the staff ensured a warm welcome and did their utmost to ensure that everything about our stay was to our liking. The location within the hub of historic Elvas was very convenient, the style, fabric and cleanliness of the building and our room was faultless, and all this came at a very competitive price. My wife and I wanted to explore the town in the evening, and Luis at reception gave us a steer towards a great little restaurant in the charming old quarter of Elvas, where traditional Portuguese food and wine were served at great prices. Elvas is a great World Heritage site to explore, and for our money the Dom Luis was a great place to do that from. Highly recommended!

Voordelen:: This property was a 'find'. So quiet and peaceful, we should have spend some days here. Nearby Elavas turned out to be a walled town with the walls built as an external castle type layered defence. The food in the restaurant was beautifully cooked and presented. A gem.

Nadelen:: Het hotel wordt slecht onderhouden, dode kakkerlak bij de deur waar iedereen doorheen moest werd niet opgeruimd, in het vogelverblijf in de tuin lagen de dode vogels op de grond en was er geen voer of water te bekennen. Na melding hiervan werd verteld dat dit voor Maintenance was, we hebben de Maintenance gezien, zaten bij het zwembad toen we daar gingen kijken en vertrokken snel toen ze ons aan zagen komen. Heb ze nog net kunnen vragen waarom het zwembad vol met troep en dode insecten lag, 1 van de knapen begon druk met het schepnet de rommel er uit te scheppen. Toen we een kwartiertje later terug kwamen om te zwemmen was iedereen vertrokken, pomp stond wel aan maar zwembad nog steeds even smerig. Ben zelf een half uur bezig geweest om de meeste insecten uit het water te scheppen.

Voordelen:: A decent sized room with a huge bed and good bathroom. It was a very quiet time for the hotel but all the facilities were running. Breakfast was excellent although we had to find the staff before we could be served ( we did appear at 07:30 which was the start of service).
Nadelen:: Nothing to dislike about the property but if you are only staying for one day (as we were) then don't choose Monday as Elvas is virtually closed.

Het Hotel Brasa ligt in een tuin in Elvas, op 7 minuten rijden van het stadscentrum. Het biedt moderne kamers met airconditioning en eigen badkamers. Er is gratis WiFi beschikbaar in de lobby en de eetzaal. De kleurrijk ingerichte kamers zijn voorzien van moderne meubels en flatscreen-tv's met satellietzenders. Ze beschikken elk over een badkamer met een bad, een haardroger en gratis toiletartikelen. Sommige kamers bieden een zithoek met een leren bank. 's Ochtends verzorgt het hotel een ontbijtbuffet met vers gezette koffie. Het restaurant serveert vis, schelp- en schaaldieren en regionale gerechten. De bar schenkt cocktails en lokale wijnen. U kunt gebruikmaken van de was- en strijkservice van het hotel. Er is ook een grote gedeelde tv-kamer, waar u kunt ontspannen in fauteuils en een film kunt kijken. Voordelen:: Plenty of free parking place. Large size of the facilities. Breakfast was quite good (tasty bread). Super quiet place to have proper rest. The staff in charge of the breakfast was very friendly. Impressive view over a very green and extense field.
Nadelen:: The shower did not have a proper curtain/screen, thus showering led to flooded bathroom every time. The friendliness of the reception staff can be improved. Furniture is a bit old fashion but still in good shape. Not close to the city center but it was our option, since we had a car.

Hotel Jardim wordt omgeven door het platteland van Alentejo en beschikt over een restaurant en een bar. Het beschikt over een buitenzwembad omgeven door een terras met ligstoelen, op 3,5 km van Elvas. De onlangs gerenoveerde kamers van het Jardim zijn eenvoudig ingericht en hebben allemaal een eigen badkamer met gratis toiletartikelen. Sommige kamers hebben een balkon of een terras. Sommige kamers hebben ook een zithoek met een zachte bank. Restaurant Flôr do Jardim serveert à-la-cartemaaltijden. De bar biedt drankjes en snacks. In de zomer is de bar bij het zwembad ook beschikbaar voor een ontspannend drankje bij het zwembad. U kunt ter plaatse een fiets huren om de stad Elvas, die op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat, of het rustige platteland te verkennen. Er is een was- en strijkservice voor extra gemak. De 24-uursreceptie kan een pendeldienst regelen en de Spaanse stad Badajoz ligt op slechts 10 km afstand. Campo Maior, waar het Bloemenfeest (Festas do Povo) wordt gehouden, ligt op 19 km afstand van het Jardim Hotel.

Het onlangs gerenoveerde Varchotel ligt op slechts 5 km van de vestingstad Elvas en beschikt over architectuur die kenmerkend is voor Alentejo. De lichte, modern ingerichte kamers zijn voorzien van een flatscreen-tv met satellietzenders. Alle kamers hebben een stijlvolle inrichting en tafellampen. De eigen badkamer is afgewerkt in de contrasterende kleuren zwart en wit. Verder zijn de kamers voorzien van een bureau en een flatscreen-tv met satellietzenders. Restaurant Dom Januário van het hotel heeft een aparte ruimte waar elke dag het ontbijtbuffet wordt geserveerd. In een ander gedeelte worden lekkernijen uit de regio Alentejo geserveerd, zoals gegrilde kip en gerechten met varkens- en lamsvlees. U kunt elke dag de krant lezen op het terras in de tuin van het hotel. In de eigen winkel van het hotel zijn lokale producten verkrijgbaar, zoals wijn en olijfolie. De receptie van het Varchotel is 24 uur per dag geopend. Het personeel kan u helpen met het plannen van uw verblijf en bezoeken aan wijnproeverijen in de regio Juromenha regelen. Het hotel biedt gratis privéparkeergelegenheid.

Nadelen:: The noise from dogs barking virtually the whole night,lorries coming and going from the large parking area to the side of the hotel.A diesel engine that started and stopped a few minutes later until late in the evening from just after seven in the morning, the constant drip/flow of water into the toilet cistern. Pillows extremely low quality.The mould around the shower.The hotel bar is advertised as open from 17.00 until 23.00 and it probably is if you can find someone to serve you.We found a very pleasant young lady to serve us at about 6.30 but couldn't find anyone after leaving the restaurant later.Bar was in darkness.

Voordelen:: Very convenient, close to the National road N4, but very quiet. With regards to an evening meal there is the Restaurante Dom Januário or a cafe/self-service. The rooms are modern and clean and the breakfast was good
Nadelen:: Our TV went on at in the middle of the night with a high volume. I mentioned it to the receptionist and she said that it maybe that someone in the adjoining room switched it on in error as all the TVs and remote controls are the same model. It was not a pleasant experience

Voordelen:: Ideal for those who pass by the area. The hotel is very charming, with a lovely courtyard, surrounded by fields. Very easy to get to - very close to the main motorway. They are a pet friendly hotel. There is a restaurant at the side but food served in there is very average and not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. I recommend to eat out in any nearby restaurant as they have more veggie options.

Voordelen:: Welcoming friendly staff, clean rooms. The bed was firm and the bathroom was perfectly adequate. Outstanding value for money. Wifi was ok for basic purposes. Exactly as the description says, the it's outside the city walls, an easy 1km stroll to the roman arches and a further walk up to the old city and castle. Tis is fine for me as I enjoy walking. Right next to two restaurants. Easy free parking right in front.
Nadelen:: The bed in the small single room was not the most comfortable and slightly short (but fine for one person as I could sleep diagonally!), and the wifi was slightly patchy. But for the price, really great. Would stay again.

Voordelen:: Location is a long walk from the town centre because of the hill. There are two restaurants next door. 2km from bus station, nearly 3km from railway station for those who may arrive by train or bus. Excellent bathroom and wifi worked well.

Voordelen:: I like to stay in this traditional residencial. The place is next to a couple of nice restaurant with good price and traditional food. The room is quiet nice, the bathroom also, wi fi working quiet well. the city center is at 20 minutes by walk or you can go in taxi. To reach bus station better to take a taxi from the hotel.
Nadelen:: the distance form the city center if you travel with public trasportation and not with car

Voordelen:: De vestingstad Elvas met zijn intacte stadswallen en -poorten naar Hollands model (!) en met steile straatjes is fantastisch! Maar de volgende keer in een andere accommodatie. Enig pluspunt: je kunt er voor de deur parkeren. Restaurant Adega Regional binnen de stadsmuren is een aanrader (ook voor vegetarisch)!
Nadelen:: Badkamer stonk zo vreselijk naar ontsmettingsmiddel dat ik er bijna onpasselijk van werd; moest slapen met raam wijd open. Ook nog een douchegordijn (brr...) buiten de douchebak zodat hele vloer onderloopt. Locatie weliswaar handig voor reizigers met auto, maar buiten de stadswallen, tussen twee stadspoorten: linksom of rechtsom 20 minuten te voet.

Voordelen:: Quiet and relaxing location. The property has been very tastefully renovated and decorated to a high standard which complimented the character of the property. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The bedding was of a high quality and breakfast included a good selection including Gluten Free bread on request. A beautiful property and we would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.
Nadelen:: We would have preferred firmer pillows and found the lighting (bathroom in particular) inadequate. In room tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated.

Voordelen:: Heel mooi domein met ruime parking met zelfs de mogelijkheid om de wagen elektrisch op te laden. Onze suite bleek een smaakvol ingericht huisje te zijn tussen de bomen. De kamer bestond uit een ruime living, keuken, hal met ruime ingemaakte kasten en een mooie bad- en slaapkamer. Bovendien waren er 2 gezellige privé terrassen voorzien. Daar er niet veel kamers/huisjes zijn op het ruime domein heerst er een zeer rustige sfeer en gevoel. De tuin is zeer mooi onderhouden en er is een mooi zwembad aanwezig. ’s Avonds en ’s morgens kan je kan je genieten van zicht op de tuin van op het door een druivelaar overdekte terras. Bij het ontbijt is er eerder een beperkte keuze, maar dit wordt gecompenseerd door het superlekkere zelf gebakken brood en op vraag kan je een eitje krijgen naar keuze. Voor het diner is er een uitgebreide menukaart aan democratische prijzen . Echter is het wel noodzakelijk om 2u vooraf uw gemaakte menukeuze door te geven daar alles vers bereid wordt. Vriendelijke service en leuke tips van de eigenaar voor trips.
Nadelen:: Er loopt een vriendelijke, rustige, brave hond (Mimi) rond op het domein, maar deze laat de gasten met rust...

Casa da Ermida de Santa Catarina heeft een glazen wand en deuren in de woonkamer, die toegang biedt tot een gemeubileerde veranda met een prachtig uitzicht op het meer. Het huis ligt direct aan de oever van de Caia Dam en biedt in de lente een schilderachtige groene omgeving. De kamers en de suite hebben een unieke, op de natuur geïnspireerde inrichting en zijn allemaal voorzien van een eigen badkamer met tadelakt muren en gratis toiletartikelen, verwarming, een ventilator en een eigen kledingkast. De suite beschikt ook over een eigen veranda. Een dagelijks ontbijtbuffet is bij de kamerprijs inbegrepen en wordt geserveerd in de ontbijtruimte. Lokale restaurants zijn te vinden in S. Vicente en Vila Fernando, beide op 12 minuten rijden. De regio biedt een rijke keuken met gerechten zoals açordas en migas (beide op basis van gemashureerd brood met kruiden, olijfolie en eieren). De Alentejo staat ook bekend om de kwaliteit van de wijnen, die kunnen worden geserveerd in het Casa da Ermida samen met schotels met lokale hapjes, op aanvraag. Het huis wordt omgeven door olijfbomen en heeft een gemeubileerde veranda met uitzicht op de schilderachtige omgeving. Er zijn uitnodigende schommelbedden aan de rand van het water. De regio is ideaal voor buitenactiviteiten zoals picknicken, vissen of wandelen. Platters van lokale hapjes vergezeld van kwaliteitswijnen uit Alentejo zijn beschikbaar op aanvraag. De beroemde Adega Mayor wijnkelders, ontworpen door de beroemde Portugese architect Siza Vieira, liggen op 15 minuten rijden van de accommodatie. De grens Portugal-Spanje ligt op 24 minuten rijden. The location is great, in the middle of the campaign to enjoy the quietness and the authenticity of Alentejo but still close enough to the beautiful small town of Vila Viçosa which is a great place to visit and have dinner. Breakfast at the Monte do vale was excellent and Mr Joaquim Cordeiro was extremely nice and welcoming.

Voordelen:: After a road trip through the Iberian peninsular, the Dom Luis certainly didn’t disappoint us and, in fact, was our favourite of all the hotels that we stayed at. Upon arrival, the staff ensured a warm welcome and did their utmost to ensure that everything about our stay was to our liking. The location within the hub of historic Elvas was very convenient, the style, fabric and cleanliness of the building and our room was faultless, and all this came at a very competitive price. My wife and I wanted to explore the town in the evening, and Luis at reception gave us a steer towards a great little restaurant in the charming old quarter of Elvas, where traditional Portuguese food and wine were served at great prices. Elvas is a great World Heritage site to explore, and for our money the Dom Luis was a great place to do that from. Highly recommended!

Good buffet breakfast, serving till 10:30, included in price; some stairs to get to the eating area. Parking was convenient in front of the hotel. Easy access to old part of the city. Nice room with plenty of sitting areas that can be used on main floor. Convenient small supermarket next door.
