The rooms in the hotel are very well decorated and appointed. The bathrooms are clean and elegant. The welcome upon arrival was genuine and the staff were helpful and friendly throughout my stay. Breakfast was first class!

I have stayed here several times and enjoyed every one of them. The breakfast is excellent.

My on-going complaint is the lack of a proper fitness room (or solution with a local gym).

Lovely single room, clean, cosy and comfortable with great amenities and great location. Lovely quality soap and shampoo, vanity kit provided, robe and slippers all extremely comfy. Room was quiet and temperature was ideal, so I slept very well.

I was charged an extortionate amount for a bottle of water at the bar (3.50 EUR for a tiny bottle of water and 5 EUR for the bottled water in the minibar which I did not take as I could not justify 8.50 EUR for water, it was very late at night so no shops nearby), and they refused to serve tap water. No complimentary water in-room was surprising given the cost of the room. I had a very unpleasant experience with the bartender, when after I bought the tiny bottle of water (enough to half-fill a glass for me and my friend), I asked if he could fill up my glass from the tap which was right there. He was rude and condescending and made me feel rather uncomfortable as a paying guest. Bit of a shame

Shower

The decor was quirky and sophisticated and all facilities were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was ultra comfortable. Certainly will stay there again during my regular trips to Brussels.

My usual complaint about the high cost of the breakfast

Make your own Belgian waffles at breakfast -- hard to beat. Hotel with character and history, but with modern amenities and upgrades. Location second to none for EU business.

Old school fitness room. Good for a jogger or biker, not so great for current fitness trends, with little space to do a workout. No complimentary water, and drinking a bottle of still water from your room's fridge will cost you EUR 5.

Suite had recently been refurbished and included excellent facilities. It was a quieter room overlooking the rear of the hotel which I prefer. Staff at check in and out are always friendly, welcoming me back and efficient.

My usual complaint is the cost of the breakfast, hence I take breakfast outside the hotel.

The staff were nice and kind. Breakfast was really too good to stop eating, that was why many guests tend to stay long, maybe.

Using a cab or public transport is recommended for city trotters. Grand place was in walking distance "horizontally", but it's a bit too hard to walk up through the hilly area to the hotel.

Excellent breakfast with an attentive staff, but service ends PROMPTLY at 10 on weekdays. This is an excellent alternative to the sterile cookie cutter big chain hotels! Would definitely return.

Location: Excellent. Close to the Luxembourg train/Bus station. Staff: Outstanding, courteous, extremely helpful, friendly. Hotel: Exceeding my expectations. Quiet. The lounge, lobby, courtyard were very nice and comfortable to sit and relax and have a conversation and/or beverage. Great Job Thon Hotels!

The location of the hotel was perfect for me - near the grand place and all the famous sightseeing places that you can see. The room was amazing, it was supplied with everything you need and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I liked everything about the hotel, since I stayed only one night, there was nothing that could have been better.

Luxury hotel in victorian style, nice details, rooms generally large and welcoming. Excellent position in the EU district but in the closer side to the old town.

Breakfast is usually not included in Brussels, but here the price is very high

The breakfast was fine, the dining room, beautiful. The location was great, on a quiet street a couple minute walk from the metro. The room was beautiful and the bed was one of the best beds I've ever slept on in my life. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Honestly, all in all, it's the best hotel I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in alot of hotels.

The location was excellent. Near my meeting location, and within walking distance of historical places and Train Station.

I can't say I disliked anything. I appreciated the upgrade given on my arrival. A very pleasant stay. Great staff, fabulous room.

Room was very comfortable and quiet.

Breakfast was wide-ranging, to suit all tastes. The hotel room was very comfortable with a large bed and everything was sparkling clean. The hotel was just 15 minutes' walk from the historic centre of Brussels, perfect for exploring.

The check-in process was slow as there was only one staff member on duty and she took a long time to deal with the customer before us.

The hotel beds were extremely comfortable and the room was sparkling clean with first class accessories.

Nothing though a single room was a bit small with no place to arrange your clothes , and a table next to the sofa.

Everything was perfect! Best choice ever! The only thing was that the restaurant was closed, but it was due to holidays so I cannot complain about that! It would be very nice though if I could taste the food there!

Fabulous room; spacious, very clean, bright (I asked for a quiet room and it had been taken into account-unlike in other hotels-I had a lovely room giving to the back with a huge square). The bathroom was very nice and spacious. I loved the room. The facilities were great-the staff very friendly and helpful. The location was superb and near metro. I had a breakfast at room-everything was delicious and delivered at the time I ordered it for.

Everything was top-exceeded my expectations-I have been in a few hotels in Brussels and this is absolutely the best!

Wonderful welcoming and caring staff; all of them top notch. Very comfortable, Quiet rooms, recently modernised. This is a friendly, beautifully presented hotel with outstanding service where I love staying....and it's in a great location for business.

Not happy with the new hotel policy of asking for money for early check-in. I think it's a very bad approach to take, particularly for a five-star hotel and not very pleasant for the staff I'm sure. When you pay decent money for a hotel room you don't expect to be hustled at the reception for extra cash because you've arrived early. For that reason, I'm afraid I'll be staying down the road in a hotel where if the room is available they are kind enough to give it to you without additional charges. Bad management decision, in a fine hotel with great staff.

Awkward building composed of different adjacent houses, twisted corridors, lobby which looks designed and appointed below the levels the rooms are appointed, greedy charging for early checkin and late checkout.

The only think I didn't like was the shampoo and shower gel bolted to the wall in a five-star hotel. Environmentally sound but kinda cheap looking.

Booked for a romantic getaway, two nights. The room was beautiful and private. Amenities were great. The hotel and staff were very nice. We were on the top floor at the end of the hallway. 6 rooms on our floor. Parking is available for an additional fee. Very convenient.

They advertised spa services so I booked an in-room couples massage and was reassured it would be a wonderful experience. It turned out to be way over priced and not relaxing at all. The room was not fit to accommodate one massage table let alone, two. They also were not part of the hotel staff. They were nice enough, but it was very obvious that one was a student, just learning. The massage was uncomfortable and awkward. They did not have sheets or head rests for the tables so, they used our bathroom towels. The ladies were bumping into and talking to each other during the session and then abruptly ended. If you want a massage, find a place that specializes, definitely not worth the price. After the massage, we had placed the do not disturb on the door, and tried nap before dinner. I was woken up by a knock and someone trying to open the door. Workmen tried to enter the room to check the fire alarm/sprinkler. I had to stop them at the door and tell them no. Not a bad stay just not relaxing as we had planned.

when I choose a hotel I just look for the location, cleanness. and what you cant see from pictures is the hospitality, at the front desk you will be lucky if you meet Mr.Adham or you better look for him, he such so kind person who will make you feel like you are guest for this hotel for so long time even it's your first time, in few moments with showing us the map of the city we got to know all the important places as sightseeing, food, walk, shopping even coffee shops, it helps us to cover all the important places in 2 days I really thank him for his kind support and look forward to returning again to the hotel because of him. I do recommend this hotel and I have it 5/5 for everything and yes they have lovely breakfast don't miss it if you are there

First Class!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay of three nights at the Stanhope. It was a convenient location for walking Brussels, and enhanced time there. The staff was great and accomodating of our needs. We loved our room which was spacious and nicely appointed.

The only semi-negative thing I can say, is that the bed was quite soft, which was not good for someone with a bad back like me. Also, we asked to have some food heated up, and they said that they would send someone to take care of this for us. They forgot, and we had to call a second time.
